You may have heard about the worldwide outage of many large services providers, airlines, and many other businesses and we wanted to give you more information about this outage.
The outage was caused by a bad update by an antivirus vendor named CrowdStrike. This update caused the affected computer to crash “brick” and go to a blue screen preventing it from booting up. The process to recover the computer / server can be lengthy if the computer uses an encrypted hard drive and/or other security measures. CrowdStrike has created a fix for this and has implemented, but the more secure the system is the harder it is to fix. If you want to read about the event from CrowdStrike you can find it here.
